Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think, feel or behave. It has been proven to help treat a wide range of emotional and physical health conditions in adults, young people and children, and is commonly used to treat anxiety and depression.
CBT looks at how we think about a situation and how this affects the way we behave. In turn our actions can affect how we think and feel emotionally.
The therapist and client work together in changing the client’s behaviours, or their thinking patterns, or in some cases both to achieve specific and realistic goals which lead to positive change.
“Sarah suffered from anxiety; she constantly worried about her future but didn’t understand why. Her goal through attending therapy was to become more relaxed and less anxious about work.
Together with her therapist, Sarah started a journey of reviewing her life to discover the past and present situations which caused and maintained her problem. This journey allowed Sarah to discover a process of Acknowledging, Understanding and Accepting elements of her life which she was then able to change to help create a better life where worrying about work didn’t cause her to be anxious all the time.”
